How HEX colour codes work
A HEX code such as #D81B60 is three pairs of hexadecimal digits: red (D8), green (1B) and blue (60). Each pair runs from 00 to FF, which is 0 to 255 in decimal, so #000000 is black and #FFFFFF is white.
A three-digit code like #F06 is shorthand: each digit is doubled, giving #FF0066. HEX is the most common way to write colours in CSS, HTML and design tools such as Figma.
